Mount Prau is a small mountain that has become the most favorite destination for climbers in Indonesia, especially the island of Java since 2014. The peak of Mount Prau is claimed to have the best place in Southeast Asia to see the sunrise. Mount Prau is located in the highlands of Dieng, Wonosobo, Central Java. Since 2014 Mount Prau visited by many climbers who want to see directly the sunrise from Mount Prau. Mount Prau has an altitude of 2,565 meters above sea level and is located in the Dieng Plateau, along with other mountains that adorn the highest landmass in Central Java. This mountain is perfect for novice climbers. In addition to the clear and not so long track, the scenery provided is first class. So stunning is the scenery from the top of Mount Prau, to the extent that if we search the internet with the keyword "Gunung Prau", then what appears are the sights of the Prau Peak, not the image of Mount Prau itself. Usually the internet search results will show a view of Mount Sindoro-Sumbing, not Mount Prau itself. While at the top of Mount Prau we can see the beautiful scenery of Mount Sindoro, Mount Sumbing, and Mount Slamet lined up. Turning in the opposite direction, we can see a row of mountains in the Dieng Plateau, besides that it is also seen Mount Merbabu, Merapi, Ungaran, and also Lawu.

Mount Prau has an altitude of 2,565 meters above sea level. The height is quite high when compared to volcanoes but the climbing path is short and the travel time is also short. This is because the starting point of our ascent is already at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level.
Dieng highlands are famous for the cold temperatures that pierce the bones therefore prepare everything in advance before leaving for there. Most importantly a warm jacket, and other equipment of course. To climb Mount Prau there are usually two planning options, namely one way or overnight at the top. Some climbers begin climbing in the early hours of the morning.
Tip: Climbing Mount Prau you can combine with traveling to other places in Dieng. For example: Lake Color, Mount Sikunir, temples etc.
The next most popular Mountain Prau hiking trails are Wates, Dworowati, Kalilembu, and Igirmranak. While the other lanes are still quiet and extreme.
